The City Cristo
When I hear of a Cristo sandwich all I can think of is a gut-busting, calorie packed, deep fried sandwich. The City Cristo, however, at Crane's in the City - the downtown Holland branch of Crane's Orchard - is just the opposite. While it is certainly not fall anymore, this sandwich (paired with some cold apple cider) hit the spot: apple butter bread, provolone and turkey, apple slices, honey mustard dressing, toasted, and sprinkled with powdered sugar. Yum!
Friday
Lazy Friday
Today I took a personal day from my day job and slept in, ate some cookies, AND spent some of my time updating my shop/blog setup. It's still a work in progress, but to clue you in, I've decided to set up shop using the service Big Cartel instead of Etsy. Personally, I have't had a whole lot of luck using Etsy to get found, and I prefer the idea and look of having a stand-alone shop that isn't part of the giant network that Etsy is - where one can get easily lost. There are several other reasons why I prefer Big Cartel, but I won't go into them now. Anyway, hopefully I'll have my new online shop up and running over the weekend!
Sunday
Workspace
I've had a giant frame sitting around for quite a while now and decided it would be nice to turn it into a bulletin board to hang above my desk. I had some guidance from Martha Stewart, and I think it turned out pretty well. I could not find a hardware store that sold Homosote as she suggests, so I ended up buying a large unframed bulletin board from Hobby Lobby. The board was of course the wrong size, so I had to cut some off one end and connect it to another using my trusty staple gun... not ideal, but it's staying together so far!

With love, from Michigan
I really love this pillow by LoveCalifornia! The Michigan one (to me, obviously) is especially nice because it makes me want to snuggle up with it on the couch with a blanket and a book during a cold winter like this one. It would really stink to live in a square state if you liked these pillows as much as I do!

Review: Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief
I might be known for enjoying a few novels found in the Young Adult section, and I may have found out that I was reading the same book as a cousin's fourth grade son, BUT! this book is pretty good. It's a great quick and easy read (most likely to keep the attention of an elementary schooler) so check it out.
VeryLoveLeigh!
Check out the new logo over at the VeryLoveLeigh etsy shop! In addition to creating the new logo, I am a also a proud owner of a hand made cowl in heather grey. Looking to add another to my collection to go with my new coat!

Decisions, decisions
I've had so many frustrations with the process of printing my work that when I saw this post on Mint, it made me want reconsider everything..again.
Here's my dilemma: I love letterpress, but it isn't a realistic process for me. Almost equally cool is screen printing. While screen printing is still a very involved process, it isn't completely out of reach like letterpress is. That being said... I wouldn't want to spend the time and money only to be unsuccessful - or more importantly, not enjoy it.
If only I were satisfied with digital printing.
